Pursuant to a revision of the 2012 Memorandum of Understanding between the FONDATION ACTERIA and EFIS, starting in 2020 two ACTERIA Prizes will be assigned annually on an alternating basis:
- Two ACTERIA Doctoral Thesis Prizes one each in immunology and allergology, will be awarded in even years (2020, 2022, 2024, etc.) for the best doctoral theses in the 3 years prior to application submission deadlines;
- Two ACTERIA Early Career Researcher Prizes, one each in immunology and allergology, will be awarded in uneven years (2021, 2023, 2025, etc.) to researchers with up to 10 years of postdoctoral experience prior to application submission deadlines.
The ACTERIA Doctoral Thesis and Early Career Research Prizes each carry cash awards of €30,000, plus the possibility of financing of €50,000/year for three-year research projects to be performed in European institutions, which can reach up to €200,000 for projects that are pursued by or in cooperation with institutions located in the following countries: Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Republic of Serbia, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Turkey, Ukraine.
The call for applications for the 2025 ACTERIA Early Career Research Prizes will opn on October 1st, 2024 and close on December 31st, 2024.
The call for applications for the 2024 ACTERIA Doctoral Thesis Prizes is now open and will close on December 31st, 2023.
Individual researchers who meet eligibility criteria and are members in good-standing of an EFIS-affiliated National Society are invited to apply when calls open. Applications received by the yearly December 31st deadline will then be forwarded to applicants’ respective National Societies for evaluation and selection of nominees.
Final nominations will be accepted exclusively from EFIS-affiliated National Societies, which will have the option of submitting one candidate for each prize.
